This pathway program provides entry level skills and knowledge in building and construction relevant to Carpentry or Bricklaying, catapulting you into an apprenticeship upon successful completion.

Entry level accredited course designed for trade-based learners endeavouring to access the construction industry.

Pathways into this qualification
Having previously engaged in some formal and/or informal experiences such as:

  • Buildng and Construction School programs
  • Industry ‘Try a Trade’ Initiatives
  • Have some work experiences performing construction duties

Pathways from this qualification
Having achieving this qualification, candidates may choose to enrol in further education such as:

  • CPC33020 Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying
  • CPC30220 Certificate III in Carpentry
  • CPC30920 Certificate III in Scaffolding

Training and Assessment Strategy
During this 12-month employment-based traineeship or on campus VETDSS pre-apprenticeship, candidates will be trained and assessed via flexible and unique training strategies that cater for all individual needs and requirements.

Assessment methods may include:

  • Direct observations of the candidate performing tasks in the workplace
  • Completion of activities or projects relevant to the qualification
  • Written assessments and oral questioning
